EDUCATION

The Machine Tool Museum shows the evolution of industry in the Lower Deba region from the time of the blacksmiths to the 19th century.

It is a living museum, unique in Spain, which offers the possibility of seeing in operation the most representative machine tools (lathes, milling machines, drilling machines, etc.) made by pioneers before us. It provides a realistic impression of the atmosphere of a mid-19th century machining workshop in our region.

Based on the permanent exhibition, we have created didactic material aimed at primary school students from the last two years called “Getting to know simple machines”. We propose a fun and dynamic way of visiting the museum, with the aim of making the students’ experience unforgettable.

“Getting to know simple machines”

In this activity, adapted to primary school students aged 10 to 12, the Heziberri 2020 decree addresses a series of contents on technology defined in the primary education curriculum:

  • Functions of machines and devices. Shaft, wheel, pulley, inclined plane, gear, brake, …
  • Evolution of machines. Ironworks, mills,… (El Pobal, Pagoeta, Plazaola…)
  • Stages of the technological process.

During the 3-hour visit, the student puts into practice the basic concepts acquired in class.
